Fruit Valley — Children received the gift of warmth late last month after the Vancouver Firefighters’ Union IAFF Local 452 used a fire engine to deliver new coats to the Fruit Valley Community Learning Center. The union’s charitable efforts on Nov. 25 were part of the national program “Operation Warm,” which helps families by giving them winter clothes during the cold season. Since the program began in 1998, more than 1.2 million children have been given coats, according to a press release.
