Hearing scheduled Wednesday to consider Bonneville pool sturgeon season

A joint state hearing via teleconference to consider a sport-fishing season in the Bonneville pool of the Columbia River Gorge will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Washington and Oregon had a public meeting in late November in The Dalles. State officials were urged to split the season between a winter segment and a few days of angling in June after school is out.

Sturgeon catches generally are best in the west end of the pool in the winter and near The Dalles in summer.
