A study of more than 100 midsize online retailers found that those companies’ sales increases over the weekend from Thanksgiving through Monday, Dec. 2, nearly matched the increase of larger retailers, according to 4-Tell, a Portland-based provider of personalized product recommendations for online retailers.

The mid-market experienced a 19 percent sales increase compared to the same period last year, according to 4-Tell, while larger retailers included in a Bloomberg News survey recorded a 21 percent increase. In the 4-Tell analysis, 79 percent of the mid-market’s “Cyber Weekend” revenue came from shoppers purchasing from a desktop computer. Seven percent of revenue came from mobile phones. The remaining 14 percent of revenue came from purchases on tablets.

The company defined mid-sized online retailers as those with less than $50 million in online revenue annually.
