ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) — Backup goalie Michael Neuvirth is being loaned by the Washington Capitals to their AHL affiliate in Hershey for a conditioning program after missing time with a lower-body injury.
The Capitals announced the move Thursday.
Neuvirth hasn’t played for the Capitals since Nov. 22. A week later, he missed a scheduled star after hurting himself when he stepped on a puck during warmups.
In seven games with Washington this season, Neuvirth is 2-3-1 with a 2.83 goals-against average and .912 save percentage.
In 128 career NHL games, all with the Capitals, he is 57-38-12 with seven shutouts, a 2.67 GAA and a .910 save percentage.
Washington plays at the Florida Panthers on Friday.
