EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul will miss his third straight game with a shoulder injury.
Coach Tom Coughlin said Friday that Pierre-Paul, cornerback Corey Webster (ankle) and rookie safety Copper Taylor (hamstring) are out for Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks.
Coughlin described Pierre-Paul’s injury as a strain and added the doctors have not cleared him to practice or play. He hopes the fourth-year player might be able to get back for one of the final two games.
Pierre-Paul said Thursday he will not need shoulder surgery. He had back surgery in June and has struggled all season to regain his form, recording two sacks.
The former first-round draft pick had 16 1/2 sacks in 2011 and 6 12 last year.
