AKRON, Ohio (AP) — Demetrius Treadwell did not miss from the floor on his way to a game-high 19 points as Akron defeated Bethune-Cookman 84-56 Saturday night.
Treadwell made all seven field goal attempts, and was 4 of 6 from the line. His 3-pointer at the first-half buzzer helped Akron (3-2) build a 52-21 halftime lead.
Nick Harney scored 15 points, and Deji Ibitayo added 11 for Akron. Quincy Diggs scored nine points, all coming from 3-point range. Diggs’ three 3-pointers was a game-high. The Zips hit ten 3-pointers, and have 21 in the past two games.
It was Akron’s first regular season home game since the season opener November 8.
Bethune-Cookman (2-11) outscored Akron 35-32 in the second half. Barry Smith scored a team-high 14 points, and Malik Jackson added 12 to lead the Wildcats. The Wildcats have a nine-game losing streak.
