Bryant defeats Navy in overtime 90-80

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (AP) — Dyami Starks scored 23 points and Corey Maynard a career-high 22 as Bryant turned away Navy in overtime 90-80 Saturday.

Navy’s Zach Fong tied the game at 73 with a 3-pointer with 4.6 seconds left in regulation and hit another 3 in overtime to give the Midshipmen a 76-75 lead. Joe O’Shea responded with a 3-pointer and Bryant took over from there with Maynard making seven free throws, including the game’s last five points.

Alex Francis scored 19 points and O’Shea and Dan Garvin 12 apiece with Garvin grabbing 14 rebounds for the Bulldogs (7-5), who snapped a three-game losing streak.

Fong finished with 21 points, all coming on 7-of-10 3-point shooting. The freshman’s previous high was seven. Worth Smith and Tilman Dunbar, who had nine assists, added 14 points each. Kendall Knorr added 12 points and Will Kelly 10 rebounds for Navy (5-4), whose three-game winning streak ended.
