Norway dominates Nordic combined WCup team sprint

RAMSAU AM DACHSTEIN, Austria (AP) — Norway dominated the first Nordic combined World Cup team sprint of the season on Saturday, claiming the top two spots ahead of Italy.

Norway 1 with Mikko Kokslien and Joergen Graabak was 11th after the jumping before finishing the 2×7.5-kilometer cross-country race in 33 minutes, 59.3 seconds. Haavard Klemetsen and Magnus Krog of Norway 2 was 8.2 seconds back in second, edging the Italian team of Samuel Costa and Alessandro Pittin by 0.6.

Bryan Fletcher and Todd Lodwick of the United States placed 14th in the jumping before winning the cross-country part to finish fourth overall, 10.0 seconds off the lead.

The Estonian team of Kristian Ilves and Karl-August Tiirmaa won the jumping discipline, but dropped to 18th overall.

The Nordic combined meet ends Sunday with a 10K event.
