Alabama gets by Charleston Southern 59-45

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Retin Obasohan scored 22 points and pulled down nine rebounds, and Rodney Cooper added 16 points to lead Alabama to a 59-45 victory over Charleston Southern.

Saah Nimley had 15 points, Sheldon Strickland 10 points and Paul Gombwer 15 rebounds for Charleston Southern.

Ahead 24-23 at the half, Alabama (5-4) opened the second half with a 20-11 run to bolt to a 44-34 lead after a three-point shot by Rodney Cooper with 7:31 remaining in the game. The Crimson Tide maintained a comfortable lead throughout the second half. Alabama has now won 15 consecutive regular-season home games.

Trevor Releford, the Tide’s leading scorer, did not play in the first half due to a right shoulder injury,

Charleston Southern (3-5) entered the game with five players averaging double-figures in scoring and led the nation in scoring offense, averaging 92.1 points a game.
