CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Chavaughn Lewis scored 18 points as Marist held off a late Charleston rally to secure its first win of the season 69-62 on Sunday.

The Red Foxes (1-9, 0-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) took a 43-28 lead into the break but saw Charleston close to within two late in the second half. Lewis stalled the rally with a layup and Marist extended its lead with an 11-6 run in the closing minutes to cement the win.

Khallid Hart contributed 16 points, while Adam Kemp and T.J. Curry added 12 apiece for Marist, which shot 48.1 percent from the field and 8 of 17 from 3-point range.

Charleston (4-6) outscored the Red Foxes 34-26 in the second half, closing the margin to 60-58 on an Anthony Thomas tip-in with 3:43 left, but couldn’t take away the lead.

Willis Hall led the Cougars with a game-high 19 points and 11 rebounds.
