Matt, Mueller win skicross World Cup events

VAL THORENS, France (AP) — Andreas Matt of Austria and Katrin Mueller of Switzerland won skicross races on the freestyle skiing World Cup tour Sunday.

Olympic runner-up Matt beat Victor Oehling Norberg of Sweden in the men’s final, with world champion Jean-Frederic Chapuis of France taking third and Franz Promok of Austria finishing last.

Mueller held off compatriot Sanna Luedi in the women’s final, with 2007 world champion Ophelie David of France coming in third and Marte Hoeie Gjefsen of Norway in last place.
