Illinois-Chicago beats NAIA Purdue-Calumet, 88-61

CHICAGO (AP) — Jordan Harks scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, leading five players in double-figure scoring to help Illinois-Chicago to a comfortable 88-61 win over NAIA Purdue-Calumet Tuesday night.

Harks converted 7 of 8 shots from the field and snagged 10 defensive rebounds for the Flames (4-6) in their final home game of 2013. Pat Birt and Marc Brown contributed 14 and 13 points, respectively, while Jake Wiegand added 12 off the bench and Hayden Humes tossed in 10 points.

UIC built a 24-point lead in the first half while limiting Purdue-Calumet to just 19 first-half points. Kelsey Barlow scored six points in the first three minutes to get the Flames jump-started.

Kaspars Brencans led the Peregrines with 16 points, with Roddy Richardson adding 14.

The game was the first meeting between the schools since the 1974-75 season and the 11th meeting all-time. The Flames now lead the series 9-2.
