BRECKINRIDGE, Colo. (AP) — Freestyle skier Torin Yater-Wallace is dealing with broken ribs and could miss the 2014 Winter Olympics.

The 18-year-old American halfpipe skier was hospitalized for the second time this month when he fell during a practice for a Dew Tour event last weekend. The youngest medalist in Winter X Games history tweeted Tuesday he hopes to be out of the hospital “in a few days” but added “broken ribs is going to take a few weeks to heal.”

Yater-Wallace called the accident one of the “gnarlier” slams he’s endured. He spent nearly a week in the hospital in early December with a collapsed lung. The teenager was considered a medal favorite in halfpipe skiing, which will make its Olympic debut in Sochi.
