LONDON (AP) — Fulham manager Rene Meulensteen says United States striker Clint Dempsey has had a medical test and will return to the club on loan.

Dempsey scored 50 goals in 184 league matches for Fulham from 2007-12. He left for Tottenham before moving to the Seattle Sounders in August.

The 30-year-old Dempsey could play for two months starting in January because the MLS season doesn’t resume until mid-March.

Meulensteen says “Clint will be a boost for us.”
