FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — New York Jets safety Ed Reed took exception to questions by reporters about the team’s recent problems with allowing big plays and his struggles since joining the team.
Reed, who initially declined to speak to reporters, says Friday that “nobody’s perfect” on the football field, while adding that it’s the media’s job to “critique, be critics” and try “to tear people down.” The 35-year-old safety has not been particularly effective since being signed last month, but coach Rex Ryan has raved about how much the younger defensive backs have learned from him.
When asked about the year he had between his time with Houston and New York, Reed again swiped at reporters, saying they don’t know as much as they think about football without sitting in team meetings.
