Marist uses quick start to defeat Bucknell 69-51

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) — Chavaughn Lewis had 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists to lead Marist to a 69-51 victory over Bucknell on Friday night.

Marist (2-9) opened the game on a 16-0 run and held Bucknell to just five field goals in the first half. The Red Foxes led 34-18 at the break and opened the second half with an 8-0 run. They led by no less than 14 points the rest of the way.

Adam Kemp had 12 points and eight rebounds and T.J. Curry added 11 points for Marist.

Bucknell (5-5) missed its first six shots and turned the ball over four times before Cameron Ayers scored the Bison’s first points of the game on a 3-pointer with 12:36 left in the half.

Marist ended Bucknell’s three-game winning streak in the all-time series and won its second game in a row after a nine-game losing streak to open the season.
