VAL GARDENA, Italy (AP) — Aksel Lund Svindal increased his overall World Cup lead with his third career win in the Val Gardena super-G on Friday.

Svindal won in 1 minute, 35.82 seconds in a flawless run. Jan Hudec of Canada finished second, 0.58 seconds behind, and Adrian Theaux of France was third, 0.91 behind.

Several contenders fell or skied off course, with flat light making for difficult conditions.

A downhill is scheduled for Saturday. The circuit then moves over the Gardena pass into Alta Badia for a giant slalom on Sunday, with Ted Ligety the overwhelming favorite.
