The San Francisco 49ers don’t play until Monday, so we’re sure they will be watching Sunday’s Seahawks-Cardinals game.

But which team are the 49ers rooting for?

If the Seahawks win, Seattle will clinch the NFC West title. However, an Arizona loss clinches a playoff berth for the 49ers.

If the Cardinals win, it keeps the 49ers’ slim hopes to winning the NFC West alive. It also means that the 49ers could get knocked out of the playoffs by losing to the Cardinals next week, presuming the 49ers fall to Atlanta on Monday.

Got a fever for more cow bell? If you’re in the SEC, you’d better be ready to pay.

The Southeastern Conference often fines programs for violating league policies.

Who knew cow bells at the wrong time were violations?

Mississippi State was hit with a $25,000 fine for violating the league’s artificial noisemaker policy a second time. The last violation was in 2010.

Mississippi State fans have a tradition of bringing cowbells to games, which the league approved, as long as they are only used at designated times.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have promoted Mark Grace to hitting coach of Class A Hillsboro, 16 months after the former All-Star left his broadcasting job following a second DUI arrest.

Grace was a minor league hitting instructor last season. He also served a four-month DUI sentence under a work-release program last spring.

Doug Drabek, the 1990 NL Cy Young Award winner, is returning as Hillsboro’s pitching coach for a second season. Former big league catcher J.R. House will be the team’s manager and Ben Petrick will return as a consultant.
