Appalachian State dominates Milligan 100-68

BOONE, N.C. (AP) — Rantavious Gilbert scored a career-high 22 points and Michael Obacha had a career-high 17 rebounds to lead Appalachian State to a dominating 100-68 win over Milligan of the NAIA Saturday.

Appalachian State (3-8) had five players in double figures as Tab Hamilton had 18, Aaron Scott 14, Chris Burgess 12 and Mike Neal contributed 11 points.

The Mountaineers won the rebound battle handedly, pulling down 58 compared to 34 for Milligan (8-4).

Milligan held a 6-4 lead at the 17:30 mark, but a Neal jumper tied it and Burgess followed with another jump shot to give Appalachian State the lead. Hamilton then hit a 3-pointer and the Mountaineers moved to a 17-6 lead with 14:47 remaining in the first half. They held a comfortable 50-39 halftime lead.

The Mountaineers scored 10 unanswered points to start the second half.

Torian Sitton led Milligan with 12 points while Cartree Pettis contributed 10.
