Brown scores 40 as Green Bay beats Fairfield 74-58

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Alec Brown scored a career-high 40 points, pulled down eight rebounds and blocked three shots, leading Green Bay to a 74-58 victory over Fairfield Saturday.

After Fairfield (2-9) took a 4-2 lead, Brown went on a 10-point run. He made two layups, a 3-pointer and three free throws to move Green Bay (8-3) ahead 12-4 at the 13:47 mark.

Brown made 12 of 17 field goal attempts and was 14 of 15 from the line. He was also perfect from beyond the arc, making two.

Fairfield closed to within one, 25-24 on a Maurice Barrow’s 3-pointer with 5:14 remaining in the first half, but could get no closer. Green Bay led 35-27 at the half.

Green Bay hit 55.6 percent of its three-point attempts. The Stags completed only 28.1 percent of their shots.

Marcus Gilbert and Steve Smith each had 15 points to lead Fairfield.
