Heath Henderson, engineering and construction division manager for Clark County Public Works, has been named interim department director by county commissioners.

The appointment will last up to six months while commissioners decide on who should succeed Pete Capell, who resigned as public works chief to become Camas city administrator.

The director of public works also serves as county engineer.

Henderson, a licensed professional engineer, has worked for the county since 1998, according to a county news release.

He worked as a civil engineer, environmental permitting manager and design section manager before being named engineering and construction division manager in 2007.

He has a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the University of Maine and belongs to the American Public Works Association.
