Hot-shooting St. John’s beats Youngstown St. 96-87

NEW YORK (AP) — D’Angelo Harrison became St. John’s all-time leader in made 3-pointers and finished with 29 points to lead the Red Storm to a 96-87 win over Youngstown St. Saturday afternoon.

Phil Greene IV added 17, while JaKarr Sampson and Sir’Dominic Pointer each added 16 for the Red Storm (8-3), who have won four of their last five.

Harrison became St. John’s all-time leader in made 3-pointers 26 seconds into the game, with 152. The previous record holder was Willie Shaw, who made 151 between 2000 and 2003. Harrison finished 5-for-6 from 3-point range. The five made 3-pointers were the most for Harrison since he made four in St. John’s 69-54 win over South Florida on Feb. 20.

Kendrick Perry led Youngstown State (8-6) with 20 points. Ryan Weber added 16, DJ Cole 12, Bobby Hain 11 and Shawn Amiker 10. The Penguins have lost three of their last five.
