OLYMPIA — Washington state officials want to remind people that Medicaid applications can be submitted at any time.
The state Health Care Authority said Tuesday that new applicants for Medicaid do not face enrollment deadlines like those buying insurance through the state’s new health exchange. The state says Medicaid coverage is typically effective immediately on the day of application.
People looking to buy health insurance through the Washington state exchange faced a Tuesday deadline to start the application process. Applicants must finish the process and pay the first monthly premium by Jan. 15 in order to ensure coverage starting in January.
