SEATTLE — Seattle Mayor-elect Ed Murray is hiring a former state senator to his administration.

The Everett Herald reports Tuesday that Murray hired former state Sen. Nick Harper, who resigned from office in November due to family reasons. At the time of his resignation, Harper said his job in Olympia was keeping him away from his family.

Harper will earn $140,000 working as director of the Office of Intergovernmental Relations.

Harper represented the 38th district, which covers areas around Everett. He was close allies Murray when both were in the state Senate.
