Fairfield gets by Bucknell 73-64

LEWISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Maurice Barrow scored 15 points to lead Fairfield to a 73-64 victory over Bucknell Saturday.

Marcus Gilbert contributed 14 points and Doug Chappell added 13 for Fairfield (3-9).

Fairfield held a 13-10 lead midway through the first half, but 3-pointers by Chris Hass and Cameron Ayes, who had 19 points, gave Bucknell (5-6) a 16-13 advantage at the 9:02 mark. The teams traded the lead until Fairfield took a 27-26 lead into the break.

Coleman Johnson made a jumper to open the second half and Fairfield then stretched the lead to 42-34 at the 12:53 mark.

Bucknell closed to 48-43 with 7:24 remaining following a Brian Fitzpatrick layup and two free throws by Ayers. The Stags quickly extended their lead to 56-43 on a Sean Grennan 3-point jumper, a dunk by Gilbert and 3-pointer by Doug Chappell. They coasted to the victory, making 11 free throws in the final 2:06.
