LIENZ, Austria (AP) — Jessica Lindell-Vikarby of Sweden edged Austrian duo Anna Fenninger and Kathrin Zettel to lead a women’s World Cup giant slalom after the opening run on Saturday.

Lindell-Vikarby, who leads the discipline standings, finished the Schlossberg course in 1 minute, 8.63 seconds, 0.02 seconds ahead of Fenninger and 0.04 faster than Zettel.

American teenager Mikaela Shiffrin, who is chasing her first GS win, came 0.35 back in fourth.

Lindell-Vikarby won a giant slalom in Beaver Creek on Dec. 1 and finished runner-up to Tessa Worley in St. Moritz two weeks ago.

Defending overall champion Tina Maze of Slovenia and Olympic champion Viktoria Rebensburg of Germany finished more than two seconds off the lead.

Lindsey Vonn is sitting out the race to rest her injured right knee ahead of the Sochi Olympics.
