Washington State Patrol says speed and intoxicants were factors in a crash on Interstate 5 Sunday night in Vancouver.

Kevin W. Smith, 52, of Kelso was reportedly driving south on Interstate 5 about 6 p.m. in a 2002 Chrysler Sebring when he rear-ended a Honda Accord near Northeast 134th Street, according to state patrol.

A juvenile passenger in the Accord was injured and transported to Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center. The passenger’s name was not released and her condition is unknown.

Smith was also injured and taken to Legacy Salmon Creek. He was discharged from the hospital later on Sunday and cited for suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants.
