Furman owns second half to beat UC Davis 75-65

DAVIS, Calif. (AP) — Furman launched an 8-0 run after halftime to break open a one-point game and hold on for a 75-65 win against UC Davis Monday night.

Kendrec Ferrara scored a quick six points as the Paladins (6-7) surged in the second half. Ferrara finished with 14 points. Stephen Croone added 17 and Larry Wideman 15.

Aside from a Georgi Funtarov jumper at 18:20 of the second half, the Aggies (4-10) did not score for more than six minutes. UC Davis trailed 44-32 after Croone scored, was fouled and converted a three-point play at 11:24.

Corey Hawkins led the Aggies with 17 points.

Though only outrebounding UC Davis 34-30, Furman outscored the Aggies 42-22 in the paint.

In the final 4:30, UC Davis started launching 3-pointers and went 5 of 11 with Ryan Sypkens (2), Hawkins, Funtarov and Darius Graham hitting from deep but could only get as close as 70-62.
