Stephen F Austin knocks off CS Northridge 74-67

NACOGDOCHES, Texas (AP) — Desmond Haymon’s career-high 36 points lifted Stephen F. Austin over Cal State-Northridge 74-67 Monday night.

The Lumberjacks (11-2) won its eighth straight and recorded its 24th straight home win, the second-longest active home win streak in the nation. Jacob Parker added 13 points and nine rebounds for the ‘Jacks.

Northridge was led by Landon Drew and Stephen Hicks, who both scored 13 points, and Hicks gathered nine boards. Josh Greene made 3 of 5 3-pointers and finished with 11 points.

The Matadors led 37-29 at halftime and held that lead until Thomas Walkup’s put-back for SFAU tied it at 51 with 8:46 left. Northridge went back up by six on back-to-back Greene treys with 5:57 remaining. But Stephen F. Austin called timeout after the second 3 and then went on a 20-7 tear the rest of the way to defend its home winning streak.
