Towson knocks off New Hampshire 72-64

TOWSON, Md. (AP) — Jerrelle Benimon scored 24 points with 14 rebounds as Towson beat New Hampshire 72-64 Monday night.

Benimon was 7 of 10 from the floor, with many of those from in close, and hit 10 of 11 free throws. Towson (8-6) was helped by 11 points from Marcus Damas. Timjh Parker-Rivera and Rafriel Guthrie had 10 points each. Mike Burwell finished with eight points and a career-high nine assists.

New Hampshire (2-10) was led by Patrick Konan with 25 points and eight rebounds. Frank Okeke added 13 points and Jordon Bronner had 12.

The Tigers jumped out to a 12-point lead in the first at 26-14 with 6:06 left, but the Wildcats went on a 12-3 run to cut the lead to three at the break.

New Hampshire was up two with 6:39 left, but Benimon’s layup and free throw on the foul by Armstrong gave Towson a lead they never relinquished.
