Northwestern adds 19 in signing class

EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) — Northwestern added a pair of highly ranked players to its offense as part of its 2013 recruiting class.

The Wildcats said Wednesday that they signed 19 players. They include quarterback Matt Alviti of Maine South High School in Park Ridge, Ill. Scouting services Rivals.com and Scout.com consider him a four-star recruit.

Running back Godwin Igwebuike (ig-wuh-BOO’-kay) from Pickerington North High School in Pickerington, Ohio, is also considered a four-star recruit by Scout.com.

Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald said the recruiting class should help build momentum from last season. The Wildcats (10-3, 5-3 Big Ten) finished with a win in the Taxslayer.com Gator Bowl.
