STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — Penn State coach Bill O’Brien will reunite with one of his mentors when Central Florida counterpart George O’Leary and his Knights visit Beaver Stadium on Sept. 14.

Both schools announced the game Wednesday. Central Florida replaced Virginia on Penn State’s schedule after the Cavaliers asked out of the game last week on the same day they added Oregon to its home schedule.

The Nittany Lions are trying to reschedule the game with Virginia. They also plan a return trip to Orlando to play at Central Florida in 2014 or 2015.

O’Brien was an assistant from 1995 to 2001 at Georgia Tech while O’Leary was head coach.

Spring practice for Penn State begins March 18. The season begins Aug. 31 against Syracuse at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
