Tennessee-Martin beats SIU Edwardsville 77-68

MARTIN, Tenn. (AP) — Myles Taylor scored 23 points and Tennessee-Martin pulled away easily with a 77-68 win over Southern Illinois-Edwardsville on Saturday.

Terence Smith finished with 16 points and Mike Liabo added 15 points for the Skyhawks (7-17, 4-8 Ohio Valley Conference), who have won three of their last four games.

Tennessee-Martin, which went into halftime with a seven-point lead, had its advantage cut to 47-44 with 15:10 left in the second half when Southern Illinois-Edwardsville’s Jerome Jones hit a 3-pointer. But the Cougars (8-13, 4-7) were unable to pull closer the rest of the way.

Tennessee-Martin answered with a 13-2 run that was capped by Liabo’s 3-pointer to give it a 60-46 lead with 7:53 left. The Skyhawks took their largest lead of the contest when Justin Childs made a jumper with 2:48 remaining.

Jones led Southern Illinois-Edwardsville with 18 points and Kris Davis had 15 points and seven assists.
