WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) — Stevie Mejia scored 18 points and Hofstra overcame a 12-point, second-half deficit to defeat UNC Wilmington 65-56 Saturday, snapping a seven-game losing streak and a 16-game road skid.

With the Pride (6-18, 3-8 Colonial Athletic Association) trailing 33-21 with 19:06 left, David Imes scored four straight points to spark a 14-2 spurt over the next 5 minutes.

The lead went back and forth until Moussa Kone’s dunk and layup in a 10-second span gave Hofstra a 49-46 advantage. After Mejia added a 3-pointer, Chris Dixon’s layup with 6:50 left was UNC Wilmington’s only basket until Keith Rendleman’s dunk 6 minutes later made it 63-53.

Stephen Nwaukoni added 12 points and 10 rebounds for Hofstra.

Rendleman had 13 points and 10 rebounds and Cedrick Williams also scored 13 for the Seahawks (9-15, 4-8), who beat the Pride 57-51 on Jan. 26, but have since lost four of their last five games.
