Norfolk State routs Maryland Eastern Shore 85-63

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Pendarvis Williams had 17 points and became the 30th Norfolk State player to surpass 1,000 career points in the Spartans’ 85-63 rout of Maryland Eastern Shore on Monday night.

Malcolm Hawkins added 16 points and Brandon Goode’s double-double, 12 points and a game-high 11 boards, helped Norfolk State (16-10, 11-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) outrebound Maryland-Eastern Shore 42-33.

The Spartans have won 10 straight games and swept the Hawks for the season.

Trailing 48-39 early in the second half, Maryland-Eastern Shore (1-19, 1-8) was outscored 16-5 and fell behind by 20, 64-44 with 10 minutes remaining.

Norfolk State led by as many as 25 points as the Hawks trailed the entire second half.

The Spartans led at halftime 46-35.

Kevin Mays had game-highs of 20 points and five steals to lead Maryland-Eastern Shore, which has now lost six straight games.
