HAMPTON, Va. (AP) — Du’Vaughn Maxwell made 12 of 13 shots for a career-high 29 points and Wes Dunning hit a game-winning 3-pointer to help Hampton edge Delaware State 85-84 Monday in double overtime of a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference contest.

Hampton’s (10-13, 7-3) Ke’Ron Brown added 17 points, and Emmanuel Okoroba tallied 14 before fouling out. Deron Powers missed all nine shot attempts but dished out 12 assists.

After Delaware’s Casey Walker nailed a 3 to tie it at the end of regulation, the Hornets’ (10-13, 5-4) Amere May sank a trey to force double-overtime.

May, who scored all 10 of his points in OT, hit another trey in the second overtime to put Delaware State on top 84-80 with 36 seconds left. But Powers converted two free throws, and May missed two free throws, setting up Dunning’s game-winner.

Dunning, who replaced Okoroba, finished with five points.

Thomas Albert scored 14 for Delaware State.
