LAS VEGAS (AP) — UNLV football coach Bobby Hauck is hiring his younger brother, former NFL player and coach Tim Hauck, as defensive coordinator.

Bobby Hauck said in a statement Wednesday that he believes his brother’s experience and background will help the Rebels’ staff.

Tim Hauck was an assistant defensive coach last year for the Cleveland Browns.

He spent the 2009-10 seasons as an assistant coach for the Tennessee Titans, and coached safeties at UCLA in 2008.

The former University of Montana star signed as a safety with the New England Patriots in 1990, and played for six NFL teams before retiring in 2002.

Bobby Hauck is entering his fourth year as head coach, coming off three consecutive two-win seasons.

Bobby Hauck and Tim Hauck also coached together at Montana before Bobby Hauck was hired at UNLV.
