Walton sparks ETSU past Kennesaw State 79-70

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) — John Walton made 8 of 9 shots for a career-high 23 points and Jarvis Jones added 22 to help East Tennessee State complete the season sweep of Kennesaw State, 79-70, Thursday night in Atlantic Sun Conference play.

Rashawn Rembert chipped in 18 points for ETSU, which won back-to-back games for the first time this season.

ETSU (9-18, 7-7) led 12-9 before Jones converted a four-point play to spark a 14-0 spurt for the Bucs. Wilson and Walton scored five apiece during the spurt.

The Bucs, who also defeated Kennesaw State 70-60 on Jan 19th, shot 62.5 percent (15 of 24) in the first half and made all seven free throw attempts. Walton had 17 points in the frame on 6-of-6 shooting.

Delbert Love had 22 points for Kennesaw State (3-22, 2-11), which shot 46.2 percent (12 of 26) in the first half but hit 11 of 29 shots after intermission.
