Freelove, Alabama State top Alcorn State 66-58

LORMAN, Miss. (AP) — Joshua Freelove scored 19 points and Alabama State handed Alcorn State its fourth consecutive loss 66-58 Monday night in Southwestern Athletic Conference action.

Freelove hit 6 of 10 from the field and 4 of 6 from 3-point range. The Hornets (9-15, 5-8) hit 6 of 11 from deep and shot 50 percent (22 of 44) overall.

Phillip Crawford added 14 points and nine rebounds and Jamel Waters had 13 points.

Alabama State held a commanding 34-22 advantage in rebounds.

The Braves (9-21, 7-8) shot 33.3 percent (18 of 54), including 4 of 24 from long range. Marquiz Baker scored 15 points but was just 1-of-10 3-point shooting, while LeAntwan Luckett had 14 points, five rebounds and four assists before fouling out.

Alabama State led 31-27 at halftime and held Alcorn State to 29.2-percent shooting (7 of 24) after halftime to expand to the final eight-point spread.
