Groselle leads The Citadel past Furman 68-57

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Mike Groselle scored 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead The Citadel to a 68-57 victory over Furman in a Southern Conference game on Thursday night.

P.J. Horgan and Dylen Setzekorn came off the bench to score 11 points each for the Bulldogs (8-20, 5-12), who had lost five of six games coming in. The Citadel swept the season series, beating Furman 84-79 on Feb. 2.

Larry Wideman scored 17 points, Colin Reddick had 14 and 10 rebounds, and Bryant Irwin scored 12 for the Paladins (6-22, 3-14), who lost their ninth consecutive game.

The Bulldogs outscored the Paladins 43-14 in the paint.

The Citadel led 30-22 at halftime, but Furman’s Bobby Austin made a 3-pointer to cut the Bulldogs’ advantage to 48-46 with 8:51 left. The Citadel pushed the advantage to 12 points at 64-52 on Groselle’s layup with 3:05 remaining and cruised home from there.
