No. 17 Oklahoma women beat West Virginia 71-68

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Aaryn Ellenberg scored 19 points, leading five Oklahoma players in double figures, and the 17th-ranked Sooners spoiled West Virginia’s Big 12 debut with a 71-68 victory Wednesday night.

Sharane Campbell had 17 points and 12 rebounds and Joanna McFarland had 13 points and 13 rebounds for Oklahoma (11-2). Nicole Griffin added 11 points and Morgan Hook scored 10 for the Sooners in their season conference opener. Campbell’s free throw with 5 seconds left made it 71-67 Sooners.

Taylor Palmer made eight 3-pointers and led the Mountaineers (8-4) with 30 points.

Oklahoma only made two 3-pointers but the Sooners made 31 of 39 free throws while West Virginia was 9 for 13 from the foul line.
