WASHINGTON (AP) — Blake Jolivette scored 16 points and Stephen Lumpkins added a double-double as American University defeated winless Maryland-Eastern Shore 63-49 Thursday night in nonconference action.

Lumpkin had 10 points, 13 rebounds and a season-high five assists for the Eagles (5-9). Daniel Munoz added 11 points and John Schoof 10.

Troy Snyder was the lone Hawk to score in double figures, finishing with 13 points. Maryland-Eastern Shore (0-12) has now lost 15 straight dating back to last year, but did snap its four-game streak of allowing opponents more than 75 points.

The Hawks scored five straight to pull within 45-41 with 8:35 to play, but Munoz and Jolivette responded with consecutive jumpers to start a 9-2 Eagles’ run. Kevin Mays then hit two free throws and Ronald Spencer a dunk for Maryland-Eastern Shore before American closed on another 9-2 run.

American outrebounded the Hawks 36-26 and hit 15 of 19 free-throw attempts.
