JOHANNESBURG (AP) — South Africa’s Olympic committee says Olympic mountain biker Burry Stander has been killed in a road accident while training.

The sports body says in a statement Thursday that the 25-year-old Stander died in a collision with a taxi near his home in South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal province.

Stander competed in the Beijing Games in 2008 and this summer in London, where he finished fifth.
