East Carolina dominates NC Wesleyan 91-60

GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Maurice Kemp finished with 19 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists to help East Carolina dominate Division III North Carolina Wesleyan 91-60 Saturday in a nonconference matchup.

Ty Armstrong added 14 points and eight rebounds, Miguel Paul scored 13 points and Akeem Richmond added 10 points off the bench for East Carolina (9-4).

Ahead at halftime 44-33, the Pirates opened the second half on a 20-10 run taking a 64-43 lead with 12:28 left to play.

North Carolina Wesleyan (7-5) shot just 21.2 percent (7 for 33) in the second half, compared to East Carolina’s 48.4 percent (15 for 31) in the period.

The Pirates dominated in the paint, outscoring the Battling Bishops 42-14 inside.

East Carolina held a 33-8 advantage in points in the paint, and led by as many as 35 points in the second half.

Brandon Givens led North Carolina Wesleyan with 23 points and nine rebounds.
