Saint Mary’s earns 74-61 win over Loyola Marymount

MORAGA, Calif. (AP) — Matthew Dellavedova scored 17 points, dished out eight assists and grabbed five rebounds to lead Saint Mary’s past Loyola Marymount 74-61 on Saturday afternoon.

James Walker III had 12 points and five rebounds, Beau Levesque chipped in 11 points and the Gaels shot an even 50 percent from the field, making 26 of 52 attempts.

Saint Mary’s (12-3, 1-0 WCC) led 33-30 at halftime but used a 17-11 run in the first 6 minutes of play in the second half to pull away. The Gaels led by as many as 14 after Walker hit two free throws to make 67-53 with 3:04 remaining in the game.

Loyola Marymount (7-8, 0-2) had four players in double figures scoring. Anthony Ireland scored 16 points and had four steals and three assists, Ashley Hamilton had 15 and Alex Osborne and Ayodeji Egbeyemi each had 10.
