TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Arizona State All-America defensive tackle Will Sutton will return for his senior season.
The Pac-12 defensive player of the year, Sutton had considered leaving the Sun Devils for the NFL before announcing Tuesday that he was staying.
As a junior, Sutton became the first Arizona State player to earn consensus All-America honors since Terrell Suggs in 2002 after leading the conference with 1.08 sacks and 1.96 tackles for loss. He had 63 tackles, including 23.5 for losses and 13 sacks, and forced three fumbles despite missing nearly two full games due to injury.
Sutton was the defensive MVP of the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl after notching 2.5 sacks in the Sun Devils’ 62-28 win over Navy.
