Letter: Not the first, nor the last, trip to cliff

We have been going over the “fiscal cliff” for the past 40 years, or haven’t you been paying attention? Members of the Congress haven’t been. Why should they? They still get paid handsome salaries, perks and privileges.

Great pensions, too, if they can keep their voters re-electing them. And now, they even get another pay raise. Vice president, too. How nice for them.

I would like nothing more than to have one of them, either party, stand in front of me or any other voter and, with a straight face, tell me why they deserve a fraction of what they receive at taxpayer expense. I doubt any would have the guts. But it would be a good photo op if they could spin the story to make themselves look good.

What a waste.
