A Portland man was arrested Monday after police say he choked his girlfriend with his dreadlock hair.

Caleb Grotberg, 32, was arrested on five domestic violence felony charges after police responded to his residence in the 3200 block of Southeast 22nd Avenue in Portland about 2:30 a.m. Monday.

Portland officers spoke with an adult female who said that Grotberg had choked her with his hair before leaving the house. The woman was transported to the hospital for treatment of numerous non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Grotberg was found in the neighborhood and taken into custody on charges of second-degree kidnapping, attempted second-degree assault, fourth-degree assault, menacing and strangulation.
