Long Beach State defeats CS Northridge 78-69

LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Deng Deng scored 18 points lead Long Beach State over CS Northridge 78-69 Wednesday night.

Stephan Hicks led CS Northridge with 26 points.

Deng was 6 of 14 from the field for the 49ers (7-8, 3-1 Big West).

Keala King had 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Mike Caffey scored 14 points and James Ennis had 10.

Long Beach State led 39-38 at halftime in a game with eight ties. At 6:45 in the second half, Caffey hit a layup to tie the game at 55. He followed with a steal and a layup to give the 49ers the lead for good.

Hicks was 8 of 13 from the field. Stephen Maxwell had 10 points and 13 rebounds for CS Northridge (9-7, 0-4).

The 49ers shot 52 percent from the field for the game, while the Matadors shot 40.7 percent. The Matadors outrebounded the 49ers 38-32.
