Brown, Toledo beat Central Michigan in OT, 76-72

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Julius Brown finished with 21 points and nine assists and made the clinching free throws as Toledo beat Central Michigan 76-72 in overtime Saturday night in a Mid-American Conference game.

Rian Pearson scored 20 and Dominique Buckley had 13 for Toledo (6-7, 2-0).

After a free throw by Nathan Boothe cut Central Michigan’s lead to 60-58, Kyle Randall converted a layup with 15 seconds left to tie it. Julius Brown missed a 3-pointer for Toledo forcing overtime.

After Randall’s layup put Central Michigan ahead 70-69 with 2:02 remaining in overtime, Brown scored four straight points to put the Rockets on top 73-70 with 31 seconds left.

Following John Simons’ two free throws for Central Michigan to make it 73-72 with 21 seconds left, the Chippewas failed to score again as the Rockets converted 3 of 4 free throws sealing the victory.

Randall scored 24 points for Central Michigan (8-7, 1-1).
